STRYPER’s MICHAEL SWEET Undergoes Third Eye Surgery
STRYPER leader Michael Doux recently had his third eye surgery after being diagnosed with retinal detachment last November. In a new interview with Myglobalmindhe said about the experience (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): “When you think of eye surgery, it certainly doesn’t seem like something major. And it certainly won’t attract the attention of other surgeries – open heart, bypass surgery, brain surgery, all that sort of thing. of things, which are all terrible. But I’ll tell you right now that the eye surgeries that I had – this is my third – my God, either I’m a big baby or they were terrible. I have very sensitive eyes anyway, and that would be the last thing I want to deal with in my life, is eye problems, about surgery.
“What I had to do this third time – it was my third surgery – was they put oil in my eyes for six months to hold my retina in place,” a- he explained. “And when they put this oil in six months ago, in January, they had to remove my lens because I developed a cataract. So they removed my lens. So I had to deal with that for six months, and I got used to Then I had to remove the oil because if you leave it too long you develop glaucoma which can lead to blindness, blah blah blah. So it’s very complicated. And they took the oil out, rinsed the oil out; it was an incision. And then they put in a new lens; it was another incision in my iris. And my eye is pretty battered right now.
MichaelThe medical emergency arose months after STRYPER guitarist fox of oz underwent the first of his brain surgeries to treat one of the tumors discovered in his head four years ago. Therefore, ounces missed some of the band’s 2021 tour dates and was temporarily replaced by howie simon (JEFF SCOTT SOTO, GRAHAM HOOD).
FoxThe tumors – one in his ear and the other in the back of his brain – were discovered when he suffered his first seizure in August 2018 while playing with SIN CITY SINNERS at Harrah’s in Las Vegas.
In October 2020, Fox was briefly hospitalized after suffering another massive seizure.
In a few weeks of Foxthe initial seizure of August 2018, STRYPER toured Australia and Japan as a trio, then recruited Simon to be completed during Fox couldn’t hit the road.
STRYPERThe new studio album from is due out later this year via Borders Music Srl. The sequel to the 2020s “Even the Devil Believes” was produced by Sweet and was again recorded at SpiritHouse Recording Studios in Northampton, Massachusetts.
Michael is joined in STRYPER by his brother Robert Doux (drums),Fox (guitar) and Perry Richardson (low).
